Greek Chicken With Tzatziki Sauce

Greek Chicken with Tzatziki sauce is a family favorite.  I had my first gyro last year and loved that sauce!  It turns out that sauce is super simple to make and it’s delicious.

If you have never had a gyro or tzatziki sauce, you need to try it.  It’s so creamy and delicious on so many other things.  I ate the leftover sauce on roasted potatoes and vegetables!  So good.  And gave them so much flavor.

Greek Chicken With Tzatziki Sauce

This recipe is so simple.

Greek Chicken with tzatziki sauce

First I marinade my chicken, the longer you can let it marinade the better, but at least 30 minutes.
You will marinade your chicken in
oregano
thyme
cayenne
lemon
extra virgin olive oil
red wine vinegar
Mrs. Dash garlic (can use garlic powder)

While your chicken is marinading, make your sauce.

You need a blender or food processor for the sauce.

I use the Ninja Blender, like the one below, for this recipe.  It’s a great investment, I use mine daily.

The tzatziki sauce consists of cucumbers, Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon, extra virgin olive oil and dill.
I use the English cucumbers or mini cucumbers because they have less water content.  If you are using regular cucumbers you will want to grate them, salt them, and the ring out the liquid.

Blend all ingredients except the yogurt until well blended.
Mix the blended ingredients into the yogurt.
Chill.

Now grill that chicken and enjoy!

If you don’t have an outdoor grill you can use an inside grill, grill pan, skillet, or cast iron skillet.

Told you it was simple!

This will be the perfect meal for grilling out now the weather is maybe deciding to warm up!
Enjoy.

  • Love the recipe and Tzat Tziki get it from a Greek restaurant that we order from they make it Old-style, as in Greece. Just the Greek Yougurt, cucumbers, lemon juice and dill weed. That’s for purists, and the only way I’ve ever had it. There are many ways to make it , garlic & olive oil figure heavily in Greek Cuisine. I have to make a couple of changes to the marinade. I get horrid migraines so no red wine vinegar. Not a major problem I can sub Vinegar Balsamico of Modena or Lemon Juice, I can replace the garlic Mrs Dash, with fresh minced, garlic and Lemon Pepper Mrs Dash., just not use cayenne. There is some in Mrs Dash , not much but about all I can handle. Got a CSA package of chicken legs in the freezer, they will be great this way. This looks so delish, can’t wait to try it.Thanks for the recipe!
