I’m sure by now you have heard all about celery juice being a miracle cure.  It’s all over the internet, the news, and everyone is talking about it.  Is celery juice worth all the hype? Do you need a juicer to reap the benefits?  Lets discuss the benefits of celery juice and how you can make celery juice right in your blender!

Is Celery Juice A Miracle Cure?

Every now and then a new health trend comes along that gets everyone riled up.  This or that cures EVERYTHING.  Now, that’s not to say that some of these things don’t help certain ailments but I certainly don’t think they are miracle cures on their own.

This brings me to celery juice, if the rest of your lifestyle is crappy then celery juice isn’t going to do anything for you, but maybe that’s just my belief.  If you are already living a clean and healthy lifestyle, celery juice can be a great addition for you. 

Celery is loaded with antioxidants and essential vitamins, such as vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate and potassium.  So even if you don’t believe in all the hype about celery juice, you can eat it or juice it and it is still good for your body!

The Medical Medium has a book all about celery juice.  He states that if you consume celery juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, it can help you with all different types of illnesses, bloating and energy.  

 

Benefits of Celery Juice

Celery juice is said to have many benefits.  Let’s talk about the top reasons I drink celery juice everyday.

 

LOWERS INFLAMMATION

Chronic diseases such as arthritis can cause chronic inflammation.  Celery has many anti-inflammatory compounds so it can aid the body in decreasing inflammation.  Inflammation is the main reason I started drinking celery juice.  

Inflammation can trigger flares in skin issue, such as eczema, so celery juice is said to help skin conditions as well.

 

HELPS WITH BLOAT AND DIGESTION

Celery has a compound known as apiuman, which has been shown to help the stomach lining and decrease stomach ulcers.  Celery also has a very high water content and lots of fiber.  This helps things move through your body a little quicker, if you know what I mean.

Celery juice stimulates stomach acid, which in return helps things like bloating and heart burn.  I have low stomach acid due to an auto immune disease and I have noticed a difference since I started drinking celery juice.

 

FIGHTS INFECTIONS

Celery seeds have been used to fight infections for years because of their antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.  Celery juice is said to have the same properties.  

Celery juice helps your bodies entire immune system.  It is also said to help UTI’s.

 

WEIGHT LOSS

Celery is low in calories and already great for someone trying to lose weight.  It can help even more in helping detoxify your liver and boosting your metabolism.  Celery juice also gives you nice clean energy.

How To Make Celery Juice In A Blender

When I first heard about celery juice, I wasn’t even going to give it a try because I do not have a juicer and I wasn’t interested in buying one.  (I want one now 🙂 )  But I realized I do have a high power blender that I make everything else in and I could probably figure it out.  

You will need a high power blender, like the Ninja Blender (below) to make this celery juice recipe.

To get all the benefits of celery juice you are supposed to drink it plain with no other ingredients.  Some days I do this and some days I like to add in a few other ingredients.  I’ll share both ways with you.

 

Apple + Lemon Celery Juice In A Blender Recipe

Ingredients
-1 bunch of organic celery, ends and leaves chopped off, then washed and chopped   

-1/2 cup water

-2 small organic apples, washed and chopped

-1 lemon

Directions
-Place the celery, apples and water into the blender.

-Blend well.

-Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or a thin kitchen towel if you don’t have one.  

-Cut and squeeze the juice of the lemon into your strained juice.

Drink immediately for the best benefits or store in a large mason jar with a lid in the refrigerator.

 

Plain Celery Juice In A Blender Recipe

Ingredients
-1 bunch of organic celery, ends and leaves chopped off, washed and chopped   

-1/2 cup water

Directions
-Place the celery and water into the blender.

-Blend well.

-Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or a thin kitchen towel if you don’t have one.  

Drink immediately for the best benefits or store in a large mason jar with a lid in the refrigerator.

 

The apple + lemon celery juice is my favorite.  The apple and the lemon give the juice a little sweet and sour.  I usually make my juice at night so that it is ready to drink first thing in the morning.  I am not a morning person.

Don’t forget, you are supposed to drink the celery juice plain first thing in the morning to get all the benefits but I like to switch it up sometimes.
