Making chocolate bark at home is so easy.  After you make this you will never buy those expensive bags of chocolate bark again.  Making it at home is even better because you can control the ingredients.

Chocolate bark is the perfect snack recipe to get kids in the kitchen because it’s quick, easy and only takes a few ingredients.  It would also be a great addition to any party, just like my Oatmeal Almond Butter Chocolate Cups!

Some people might think chocolate isn’t a healthy snack but they are wrong!

Dark chocolate contains powerful antioxidants and studies have shown that it can lower blood pressure and help reduce the risk of heart disease. (source)

INGREDIENTS

-1 bag dark chocolate chips
-1 cup salted roasted almonds

That’s all the ingredients you need.  I told you, simple.

You can choose different toppings as well.  My kids loved topping their chocolate bark with graham crackers and pretzels.  So many things would be delicious on this chocolate bark.  Dried fruit, coconut, peanut butter chips, the possibilities are endless.

You can use different kinds of nuts if you don’t like almonds.  And you can use how much or how little of the nuts that you like.  I like to use the salted roasted almonds because the little bit of salt adds a delicious extra layer of flavor.

That is the great thing about this recipe, it’s so versatile and can be made for anyone’s taste.

How to make Homemade Chocolate Bark

Chocolate Almond Bark

First, you will chop up your almonds.  Just take a chef’s knife and run your knife through the almonds.  How big or small you want to chop them is up to you.

Next, get your pan ready.  Place your wax paper over the cookie sheet and set aside.

Then place your chocolate chips in a bowl.  Melt them in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between.

Once your chocolate is melted, spread it across the wax paper.  You can spread it as thin or as thick as you like.

Top with the almonds or whatever toppings you choose.

Pop it into the freezer until it’s hard.

Once it is completely hardened, break it apart and eat it!

Having simple and healthy chocolate snacks on hand just makes life a little bit easier.  You can feel good about eating this Homemade Chocolate Almond Bark and feel good about your kids eating it too.  Try my Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Energy Balls as a snack or dessert, kids love them!
