Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent Recipe

I started making my own liquid laundry detergent because I was having a hard time finding a store bought laundry soap that wasn’t super toxic. I did end up finding one that I really liked, but it was expensive to keep using. I figured I could make my own much cheaper.

Making your own laundry detergent at home not only will help remove toxins from your household but will also save you money because the “clean” laundry detergents are pretty high priced.

Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent Ingredients

This laundry detergent recipes makes 1 gallon. I store mine in two 1/2 gallon mason jars.

How to Make Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap

Bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Turn off the Heat.

Add in the washing soda and borax, mix well.

Let cool just a little, then add in castile soap and 8 more cups of water. Stir.

Pour into jars or other storage container.

When completely cool you can add 40-50 drops of essential oils per gallon. If you do the 1/2 size gallon jars, put 20-25 in each jar.

Use 1/4 c per load of laundry.

The liquid laundry soap does gel up a little bit as it sits. It makes it easier to scoop out.
