Hot Dog Buns For French Toast
I don’t know about you but every single time I buy buns for something, we end up with so many left over. I hate throwing things out, so turning hot dog buns into a french toast recipe is perfect. Even if you don’t have any left over, you can always buy hot dog buns for french toast!
I love making french toast with hot dog buns because they are thick. You can make this recipe with any type of hot dog bun (or hamburger bun too) that you have left over.
Hot Dog Bun Cinnamon French Toast
After you make this fun cinnamon french toast for your kids, they are going to beg for it. My kids think it is so fun and special when I make it.

INGREDIENTS For Leftover Bun French Toast
- Hot Dog Buns, Pulled Apart and cut into thirds. You will get 6 pieces from each hot dog bun. I love making my own hot dog buns now, and usually still have leftover or a good organic thick hot dog bun for this french toast.
- Coffee Creamer- I always have some sort of coffee creamer on hand, I love using because it adds extra flavor. But if you do not have coffee creamer, you could use all milk.
- vanilla almond milk, or regular milk if that is what you use. We are now using raw milk. Any milk works. Add a little vanilla if you use raw milk.
- Cinnamon
- Eggs
- Butter
- Olive Oil
- optional: Powdered sugar and syrup for topping
The ingredients are simple. If you have left over hot dog buns, you probably have the other items already on hand.

How To Make Easy French Toast
Cut your hot dog buns into 6 pieces like stated above.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk creamer, milk, cinnamon, and eggs together until fully combined.
Heat up a large skillet on medium heat. Add butter and olive oil.
Dip french toast, and place into pan.
How many french toast pieces you can cook at a time will depend on the pan you are using. It takes 2 rounds for me.
Once you have french toast in pan, cook for 4 minutes.
Flip and cook for 2-4 more minutes, until brown on all sides.
Put a little more butter and oil each round of french toast that goes into the pan.
When finished top with powdered sugar and syrup if you choose.
ENJOY!

Hi! Would love to try this! As I don’t have coffee creamer, is it possible to substitute this with condensed milk instead? Hope to hear from you soon, thank you!
Hi! you could just substitute with any milk that you are already using or cream.
Can these be frozen and reheated?
I have not tried this, but I deff think it could be if sealed and stored properly.
I am trying this tomorrow!!
Yay! Let me know how you like it! 🙂
